Flood From Above Causes Mold in the Bathroom in Brielle, NJ
Challenge
This customer in Brielle, NJ called our office after his wife found a lot of mold growing throughout one of their bathrooms in the finished basement. When the homeowners were at work, one of the pipes on the upper floor had burst and flooded the area. Although one of their kids was able to stop it, because the adults were gone for so long, the water seeped into the bathroom below and mold started to develop.
Solution
After inspecting the ceiling, we realized that the structural integrity of the sheetrock was compromised and full of mold. Due to that, we had to perform a full-on mold remediation and tear-out. Once all of the contaminated materials were removed and disposed of properly, we treated the entire bathroom with MAPS 1. MAPS 1 is an EPA registered antimicrobial solution that's going to attack mold at its DNA and kill it immediately. After that, we applied our mold stain remover and scrubbed any and all mold stains throughout the bathroom.
Once all of that was completed we applied MAPS 2 throughout the area. MAPS 2 is a patented sealant that encapsulates the surface mold is growing on and renders it harmless, inert, and non-allergenic. It's also moisture sensitive and will reactivate whenever it gets wet to prevent any future mold growth.
