How Do You Turn Your Basement Into the Ultimate Recreational Area?

How Do You Turn Your Basement Into the Ultimate Recreational Area? - Image 1

The pandemic is finally over and we have been able to go back to our normal lifestyles. The whole family hanging out together is a thing of the past, or is it? Although a little time away from the family is nice, if the pandemic taught us one thing, it's sometimes it really is enjoyable to have the whole family together. What better way to keep the family together, and have the kids really want to be at home, than to create a family fun area in your basement.  With a few simple tricks, it is an attainable goal.

  1. The first step is to sit down and write out what your family enjoys. Do you like to play board games together? Are you a more active family and a rousing game of ping pong is more your style? Maybe both of these activities are fun for your family.
  2. Next, decide how much space in your basement you will need for the activities you would like to do.
  3. Once you have decided the space you will need, see if your basement can accommodate your ideas. If your basement can not accommodate a pool table, maybe look at a smaller game, like foosball as an alternative. If you are a big fan of board games make sure there is space for a table and a shelf to store the games.

Once you have planned out the space it is important to take a few minutes and walk around the basement. When you go into your basement does it smell musty? A musty smell doesn’t just come from storing dusty items in your basement, it is a common sign of mold.

If you think you might have mold, don’t let that derail your plans! Our mold-polymer patented technology can be quick and simple. This will not only get rid of the current mold it will help to prevent it in the future. An added bonus is this technology kills the mold on the surface of many building materials without destroying them. This means there could be little to no repair after the procedure is done and you can get right to setting up your family fun space.

Once you know that your area is mold free it is time to look for fun items to fill your recreation space. There are a number of sites online that sell discounted board games and jigsaw puzzles. Better yet, see if your town has a hobby shop. Small business owners can be a great resource for finding the best items that will really fit your family’s needs.

Whether you buy your recreation items new or second hand, creating a safe and inviting space where your whole family can have fun together is priceless.
